Fernando graduated in Brazilian music and Jazz at Codarts University for the Arts (Rotterdam / Netherlands) which is well know for being the only conservatory in Europe that specializes in World Music. His stay in the Netherlands has contributed to the enrichment of the personal sound of Fernando Camas, there he found many elements which are nowadays indispensable in his compositions.
He was born into a family with musical and artistic tradition. His own musical origins date back to the age of 8 years old when he began studying of Elementary and Professional Grade with the clarinet at the Conservatory of Cadiz. During those years, Fernando's childhood and early youth overwrapped in the context of Classical Music, concert bands and chamber groups which were part of his day-to-day life. It is at this stage when his early fascination with film music first appears.
His second musical stage started after finishing his engineering studies at the University of Malaga. During those years "away" from the classical music, Fernando's interest in the sounds of youth, Rock and Heavy Metal was becoming stronger in his musical tastes and he became fascinated by virtuosos guitarist. That is precisely the way he began his second music adventure, but this time as a guitarist. And from listening to Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai he switched to Joe Pass and Pat Metheny. At the age of 22 he began self-taught guitar lessons!
He studied at the "Taller Musica Jove" in Valencia and later he moved to Barcelona to soak in the jazz scene of the city. During those years the Jazz occupied everything in his musical universe.
After his stay in Barcelona Fernando came back to Cádiz, his hometown where he kept very active in the varied musical scene. He got to know flamenco, and started discovering Brazilian music, and once again became captivated by a new sound. Even then at the age of 26 years he is discovering the world of composition and he prioritized harmony development above the virtuoso. Through Brazilian Music he saw for the first time the union of the two worlds that have shaped his musical personality to date, classic and modern. It is from that moment when he decides to explore boldly, even more if possible, the fundaments of harmony, the fuel that feeds any music. And it is in that line that blends both styles, in which Fernando Camas and his music moves easily.
Currently and what could be labeled as his third musical stage, Fernando Camas is finalizing the details for the recording of his first album, scheduled for 2017. Also he is immersed in different composition projects related with film music.
